Ah, the SLO little 500.
We were hanging out with the organizer of this event some time ago and have been lovingly following it since then. It’s a Coaster Brake only, drop bar road bike race on dirt…and it involves beer.
In the spirit of bringing you all-things Coaster Brake, we we pulled up the knowns and unknowns of the event last month from their website:
Known:
* Coaster Brake, 700c, and drop bars. Bring them and experience the most fun possible on and off of two wheels.
* No beer, No race.
* Team RotGut is bringing a pretty danged sweet bicycle (its name is Hamster Tit).
Unknown:
* How many teams is it possible to get up on that hill?
* How many bare-chested, body-painted, beer-can-tossing, hootin’ and hollarin’ FANS can we get there to root us on?
* Where will we EAT in our drunken’ stupor of SLOLittle 500 afterglow afterwards?
You can check out their video too.
Live in California? Come Race, but don’t forget the fun.
Hey there -
We got a problem at Coasties.
Our customers keep sending in photos of beautiful bikes they put together, but we have no good way set up of displaying them.
For that reason, we’re starting a “customer ride of the week” post until we figure something else out. Here’s a couple weeks all at once, just because the bikes are worth it:
It was a frikkin blast you guys. If you are around Seattle on 5/16/10, come join us. We have a bag of candy.
Hey there Coaster fans!
Coasti.es will be riding the May 2nd Urban Assault Ride in Berkeley. You know it’s good when you got bikes, limbo and beer all together in the same spot, all wrapped up as a fundraiser for local non-profits.
Come say hi if you’re in the neighborhood! We’ll be the guys riding Coaster Brake.
Park tool has a great tutorial about these hubs so ya’ll can get better acquainted if you are so inclined

Check it out!

Mad little kid drifting skills developed using Coaster Brake technology! Doing this crap as a kid is exactly why we build these wheelsets now.
Sucker Punch Cyclery – a small startup in Berkeley specializing in Coaster/Single speed/fixed bicycles – has a new line up of custom Coaster bikes.
Give him a call (925) 639 4587. Paul is a great guy.
